Worst paying jobs: helping kids and teaching about God

According to a new list of the 20 Worst Paying College Degrees in 2010, most of the least profitable careers involve helping children/families or teaching about God. That says just wonderful things about our priorities as a society. (Instead of going into theological education and elementary education, maybe my wife and I should have majored in music and art history. Apparently we would have made more money.)

Here’s the full list:

  1. The only change I wish for is that most people could live on a single income. It’s a bit depressing to see that all at once, heh.

    • What do you mean? Any family can live on a single income. Assuming, of course, that it’s much larger than these.

      • I meant on one of the incomes listed above. It’s possible, but not easy.

      • I completely understand. My wife and I lasted for quite a while on either one youth pastor salary (while she was in grad school) or one elementary teacher salary (while I was in grad school). But we only made it because we had help from grandparents.

  2. I notice that my major, “Creative Writing” was not listed. Maybe because it doesn’t pay at all?
