Philosophy & Theology Class

Okay, I have received several comments about my plan to offer the Issues in Systematic Theology class this fall and scheduling the Philosophy & Theology class for Summer 2012. Several of you have asked me to switch those because you’d prefer the philosophy class and will not still be taking classes in Summer 2012.

I also spent some time reflecting on things from my role as program director, and I’m starting to think that we should do the philosophy class first because I think that’s the area of greater need. Philosophy is such a critical area for theological studies, but it’s an area that is largely neglected in most seminary programs today. I could be wrong, but my sense is that this has been true for most of our ThM students as well.

So, what would you think about switching these two classes and scheduling the Philosophy & Theology class for Fall 2010 instead? Would that be a good or bad move from your perspective? Leave a comment or shoot me an email and let me know if you have a preference.

  1. I think that’s a good idea. I couldn’t take the class if it was offered in the summer.
